Kent TV - Engaging Communities through Digital Television - ALEX CONNOCK & PETER GILROY

Public Sector online TV – experiences in the first wave

How can a county council best encourage communication in the digital age? Is print and local newspaper advertising still the only appropriate tool, when all the statistics show customers are turning their media attention to local search websites and global video like YouTube ?  Can wider public sector audiences be reached with online video? Can local news be covered in new ways, as Digital Britain encourages?

Peter Gilroy OBE, Chief Executive of Kent County Council, joins Alex Connock, Chief Executive of Ten Alps PLC, to discuss experiences of pioneering and much-debated online TV service Kent TV - respectively as customer and producer.   Peter will explain why KCC undertook the initiative.   And Alex will offer an overview of developments in this fast-moving sector around Britain – from Teachers TV, to other new local council video sites, to Digital Britain itself.
